EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS

OFFICE

Norken Ltd had its offices located at Norfolk Towers on Kijabe Street, Nairobi. This office is well equipped to undertake any form of project work related to infrastructure studies and environmental management.We have printing facilities, computer equipment loaded with relevant software packages and several spreadsheet programmes necessary for project monitoring during implementation. A complete list of the equipment available at these offices is given in the following pages.

SURVEY EQUIPMENT

We have a full range of survey equipment necessary for highway design and monitoring of contractor’s activities during construction. Equipment includes Total Stations, theodolites, leveling instruments, GPS, distomat accessories, and other miscellaneous equipment.

LABORATORY AND TESTING EQUIPMENT

We have a fully equipped and operational laboratory in Nairobi. The laboratory has electrical power supply, telephone services and adequate water from out own borehole. We have equipment to carry out necessary laboratory testing soil samples, gravel materials and crushed rock aggregates to determine soil properties. We also carry soil corrosivity, and chemical tests to determine the level of hydrocarbon contamination.

Soil and ground water sample tests for BTEX, Aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), and MTBE are done at the Kenya Bureau of Standards and the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute’s National Agricultural Research Laboratories for Irrigation and Drainage Research.

TRANSPORT

The firm owns five (5) vehicles including three (3) four-wheel drive vehicles, and two (2) saloon cars.
